This summer we're using the Summer 1 song collection, which features favorites such as Stick Tune, Mary Wore a Red Dress, Two Little Kitty Cats, Down Under, Jack-in-the-Box, Workin' on the Railroad, Biddy Biddy, and many more (21 in all, including the famous Hello and Goodbye songs). With two makeups to use over the six weeks, you can create a session to fit your vacation schedule. This summer we're offering "Jammin'," a new collection for Big Kids 5–8, as a demo to get ready for fall. Talk to your friends and talk to me, too, if you want to get a group together to jump into any classes we offer, from Babies (up to 8 months), 1 & Under (up to 15 months), Family (mixed-age 0–5 ), and Big Kids (5–8, independent children). Happy Music-Making and Happy Summer!
Music Together classes involve singing & chanting, dancing & playing, tapping & clapping, and generally having a fabulous time getting those neural pathways firing to support your child's innate musical abilities in relationship with you. Children in Valley Cat Music classes (and their parents!) are exposed to a variety of musical styles from around the world, rhythms, languages, instruments & props (drums, shakers, bells, scarves, rhythm sticks, parachutes, guitar, ukulele, recorder, etc.), and activities designed to nurture their musical development with the guidance and modeling of their loving caregivers.
Students in the Family class work through play toward basic music competence (being able to sing in tune and keep a steady beat), while families in the Babies class learn how to bond with their babies through musical play, read their babies' cues, and meet other parents of infants. Students in the Big Kids class work through play toward basic music literacy (being able to identify pitches and notate rhythms). In all classes, the goal is to foster a lifelong love of music, connect as a family, and have fun!

Music Together is an internationally recognized early childhood music program for babies, toddlers, preschoolers, k–2nd graders, and the adults who love them. First offered to the public in 1987, it pioneered the concept of a research-based, developmentally appropriate early childhood music curriculum that strongly emphasizes and facilitates adult involvement.
Music Together classes are based on the recognition that all children are musical. All children can learn to sing in tune, keep a beat, and participate with confidence in the music of our culture, provided that their early environment supports such learning. By emphasizing actual music experiences rather than concepts about music, Music Together introduces children to the pleasures of making music instead of receiving it passively from CDs, TV, or the Internet.
Central to the Music Together approach is that young children learn best from the powerful role model of parents/caregivers who are actively making music. The program brings families together by providing a rich musical environment in the classroom and by facilitating family participation in spontaneous musical activity at home within the context of daily life. Our classes build on your child's natural enthusiasm for music and movement. We'll help you provide your child with the basic musical skills needed to enjoy school and social musical activities, and to study an instrument later on should he or she choose to do so.
